It’s one of the more talked about things in Colorado among the fan circles — when are the Rockies every going to have some kind of brand refresh or new logos?
Listen, there is nothing wrong with the current ‘CR’ logo on their caps, and the traditional ‘ROCKIES’ mountain logo; but wouldn’t it make sense for a 24 year old franchise to have at least something different?
Well, all of the fans that are hoping for such refresh may be in luck. With Sunday’s two Facebook posts about the Opening Day roster and starting rotation, the Rockies seem to be teasing us a bit with a fresh new logo that’s never been seen before. It doesn’t seem to be noticed by everyone, as most of the comments are about the roster and players — but this definitely caught my eye right away.
See the two graphics that the Rockies shared below. The logo is used in both of these — a complete diamond shape with mountains visible inside of the diamond, and a brand new thinner font for ‘Colorado’ and ‘Rockies’. It remains to be known if this was just a small tease of something that looks fresh and different, or if the Rockies truly are going to be revealing some new logos, graphics and possible uniform changes this season.
One note is that the Rockies did change one of their colors going into the 2017 season, making the purple lighter/brighter. Many of the players felt that the old, dark purple looked “too blue” at certain times. So perhaps along with the fresh purple color, the franchise is going in a more modern direction in terms of their logo?
